TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Monday at 6 P.M, Christmas lights were turned on at Deming Park.
It is part of the 33rd annual Christmas in the Park.
19 non-profits have decorated the park with the hopes of winning some money for their organization.
According to organizers, all 19 organizations will receive a cash prize for their participation.
The top 6 of the 19 will be chosen next Monday.
The winners will receive a larger amount of the $13,000 pool.
In addition to helping out local non-profits, organizers say this is an exciting day for the community.
“More people come out and see the lit displays every year, as they hear about it. It’s a fun activity, it doesn’t cost the community anything to come out and see the displays and enjoy the beautiful Deming Park at Christmas time,” said Sally Whitehurst, First Financial Bank.
Monday’s events also include a visit from Santa and a firework display
