TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Thrive West Central held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday for a new home at 68 Ferndale Drive in Terre Haute.
This is a result of the Terre Vista Glen Project which will bring 10 new homes to the east side of Terre Haute. The project is part of the Homes for the Future Program that incentivizes new homes to be built in the area.
The homes are made possible through READI funding. During the ceremony, Jon Ford, the chairman of The Wabash River RDA, explained the impact these homes have on the community.
“That is the American dream, right? It’s to own a home and for communities, we want home ownership because that’s what grows wealth, and that’s what brings people to our community. So this is a really big deal to add 400 plus homes. That’s the most we’ve done in decades,” said Ford.
He says the homes are full of modern fixtures. He also adds the exact number of homes, built in the Homes for the Future initiative, is over 420 so far.
