TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A variety of cooling centers opened due to high temperatures in the area.
The Pathways Day Center located at 504 S. 15th Street in Terre Haute opened their doors for anyone in the Wabash Valley who needs to cool off. The facility opens any time the temperature feels 100 degrees or above. Pathways manager Charity Mouck says they offer a variety of services to help the community beat the heat.
“We open our cooling center,” Mouck said. “It’s many of the same services we provide on a regular basis. We offer showers, limited laundry depending on how many people are here that day. We will provide a dinnertime meal, and of course any pets that come to visit, we will have pet food or water for them as well.”
Closing time is determined by weather monitoring and when the heat will break.
