JASONVILLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Update: According to Bob West of Jasonville Utilities, this boil order has now been lifted.
Original: Customers in several local towns are under a boil order after a water main break.
Jasonville Utilities is asking customers in Jasonville, Coalmont, Howesville, and Hymera to boil water before use.
The order will reportedly last for three days, as crews work to repair the water main.
The CDC’s guidance for how to properly boil water during these situations is as follows:
- Fill a pot with water.
- Heat the water until bubbles come from the bottom of the pot to the top.
- Once the water reaches a rolling boil, let it boil for 1 minute.
- Turn off the heat source and let the water cool.
- Pour the water into a clean container with a cover for storage.
