LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Linton Mayor John Preble is on a mission to preserve the memories of veterans in the city.
The closure of Shields Hardware and Supply means that the Veterans Wall of Honor that is inside will also be gone. Over the past year, Preble has created a non-profit called Veterans Hall of Honor where they plan to store all of these photos.
His ambitious goal is to have a location with all of these pictures, up and on display, by Veteran’s Day of this year.
Preble said these men and women deserve to be remembered forever.
“I think their memories are important to know what they did and what they suffered through for the freedoms that we have especially during this 4th of July period,” Preble said.
Preble added that they are still accepting photos for the display, and that if anyone wants to contribute towards Veterans Hall of Honor, donations can either be brought to Linton City Hall or mailed to him at 1723 Dogwood LN, Linton, IN 47441.
