TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Books flew off the shelves for cheap once again at the Vigo County Public Library.
The sale in the lower level of the library takes place every first Saturday of the month with exception of January and July. Friends of the Library volunteers organize the event, which brings in people of all ages.
The mission is to recycle books from the library as well as other places in the Terre Haute community. Friends of the Library vice president Jim Cottom says it makes sure affordable books do not go to waste.
“The school corporation gives us a lot and we sell them for really kind of a pittance,” Cottom said. “Many of them are 1,2,3 dollars and it just gets people out to get their own books. They get to read them and a lot of people are buying them for their kids at this time of the year so they can read in the summer and we encourage reading programs.”
There is also an upstairs room at the library where the group sells books all the time.
