PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Hundreds of residents made their way up to Parke County this weekend to kickoff the Maple Fair.
This festival highlights the multiple maple syrup producers in Parke County during their prime production time. The festival has run more than 50 years, and it has evolved into much more than just syrup.
Other events include a large pancake breakfast, local art and artist showcases, and dozens of local craft and food vendors.
Irene Wirth is with The Williams and Teague Maple Syrup Farm, and she said that this event has helped the business grow through multiple generations.
“I have grandchildren who are helping make maple syrup from the same woods that my grandfather did,” she said. “It is a family tradition for us, and it is important that the product is awesome.”
Wirth also added how much she enjoys all the festivals in Parke County.
“Living in this area my whole life has been such a pleasure because it always feels festive,” she said. “Whether it is The Covered Bridge Festival, The Maple Fair, or any of the other wonderful events that are thrown, there is seemingly always something fun to do in this area.”
The Maple Fair will be set back up during the first weekend of March at the Parke County Fairgrounds.
