TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – After the lighting of the park Friday night, many made their way back to Deming Park for the Christmas in the Park 5k Saturday morning.
This race was the last of in the year-long series for the Wabash Valley Road Runners. The runners in this race were able to enjoy the holiday scenery from the Christmas in the Park celebration.
50% of the proceeds from the race go to the Noon Optimist Club’s Clothe a Child fund.
Brad Chaney was the race director, and he says this is a great way for runners to get into the Christmas spirit.
“It gets everybody in the holiday spirit. It is a great way to kick off the month of December. It is also a great way to celebrate our runners and walkers that have achieved so much throughout the year,” said Chaney.
He also wanted to add how much he appreciates everyone who makes the Wabash Road Runners what it is today.
“I appreciate all the members and sponsors that we have more than anyone will ever know. Running is such a passion of mine and the fact that we have a group of this magnitude locally, means the world to me,” added Chaney.
This concluded the 49th year of the Wabash Valley Road Runners and they plan to have big things planned for their 50th year.
