MARSHALL, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Wabash Valley got a dose of summer weather Saturday, just in time for one local community to debut a new summer hangout spot.
Marshall revealed its new community pool to the public Saturday. Those involved with fundraising for the pool say the large crowd was no surprise, as this pool is something the community has waited for since the old community pool closed.
The new pool is twice the size of the old one, with added features including a zero depth entry, a splash pad, and a climbing wall angling out of the water.
“I still have goosebumps, this is just something we’ve been working so hard for and I just love it, I want kids to think when they’re adults, wow we had a great childhood in Marshall,” said fundraising chairman Sara Tarble.
While the pool didn’t officially open Saturday, Tarble says they are hoping to open for swimming on Friday, May 24, just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
