SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A portion of State Road 159 between Dugger and Pleasantville will be closed for pre-planned repairs.
The Indiana Department of Transportation announced that crews will close SR 159 for seal coating beginning on or around Monday, June 5. The work is expected to continue through June 16 and progress will be dependent on weather.
The process of seal coating is designed to payer the existing pavement with liquid asphalt to seal cracks and help to protect the road from weather conditions. The sealing process helps to preserve roads and will help to reduce the likelihood of further damage to the road or vehicles.
INDOT asks for motorists in the area to slow down while in construction zones, be alert and aware of crews and work zones and urges people to not drive distracted.
