SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — In a collaborative effort between local officials, private housing developers, and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, the city of Sullivan will receive $14 million worth of housing developments.
Radiant Communities Development Corporations, a private housing development, has been working with the city to bring in more homes and to develop the area. In efforts to provide funding for the housing development project, Radiant Communities was awarded $12 million in tax credits from the IHCDA to put towards the construction of 40 new, three-bedroom, lease-to-purchase townhomes and single-family homes.
“The magic continues here in the City of Sullivan,” stated Mayor Clint Lamb. “Folks from around the state are understanding how special it is to be here in the City of Sullivan – but not just special, ‘Sullivan Special.’ The fruits of our labor and the tireless efforts of our team to rid the community of eyesores have come full circle. Now we are home. We thank the IHCDA and Radiant Communities for their investment in this amazing community.”
This project aims to transform and convert older or dilapidated buildings that were eliminated under the city’s “They Gotta Go Program” and the federal Blight Elimination Program. The housing units will cover 14 lots and place the new homes near Sullivan’s growing downtown, quality of life, and outdoor recreation opportunities.

In 2022, Sullivan was awarded additional funding for the housing project of $800,000 from the Wabash River Regional Development Authority’s (RDA) READI proposal. Several organizations have partnered to bring the city of Sullivan new housing opportunities. As the project comes to an end, the final steps are to prepare for upcoming groundbreaking celebrations.
