TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Those who enjoy history and tracking family lineages can learn about information able to be gathered from cemeteries at an upcoming class.
The Vigo County History Center is hosting the Family Research Program Saturday, May 14 at 10:40 a.m. at the Vigo County Historical Museum’s auditorium.
This program is titled, “Finding Family and Local History in the Boneyard” and will offer participants new ways of looking at what cemeteries can reveal to those doing family research.
Donna K Adams, a Sullivan County Historian and Genealogist and head of the Sullivan County Genealogy and Local History Department since 1992 will be the speaker. Adams participates in national conferences as well as online studies. She now works with an organization in Utah called FamilySearch that is working to digitize, free online probate records of the Sullivan County Courthouse.
There is no registration required to participate, the cost for non-members is $7 for adults and $6 for seniors aged 60 and up. The cost also includes admission to the museum for the day.
