INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Indiana Senator Todd Young believes the “Endless Frontier Act” will not only be great for America but for Hoosiers specifically.
The “Endless Frontier’s Act” is an investment into American science and technology as the United States works to compete with China. The bill calls for significant investments into federal scientific enterprises.
There were 10 keys area identified including battery storage, robotics, and and advanced manufacturing.
“Indiana is the most manufacturing intensive state in the country,” said Senator Young. “Therefore it’s essential we have access to the feedstock of our manufacturing economy and this legislature puts our money where our mouth is.”
Senator Young also highlights institutions across the state that he says continue to make advances in technology, including Purdue University, Indiana University and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
“The idea here is to make these key investments in areas of applied technology,” said Senator Young. “Rose-Hulman a smaller college but they actually have some unique expertise in off loading their technologies and getting them out into the field, so they’re growing wealth and improving lives.”
Senator Young says everyone is coming together as they hope to outgrow, out innovate and out compete China.
“The United States Senate sent a strong message to the world and in particular to the Chinese Communist party that when it comes to the strategic rivalry between the United States and China, we are a unified country,” said Senator Young.
The bill passed the Senate by a vote of 68 to 32. The next step in the process for the bill will be for it to be voted on by the House of Representatives.
