TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A semi truck caught fire Tuesday evening on eastbound I-70 at the 10-mile marker.
Indiana State Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Matt Ames said a truck hauling plastic was engulfed in flames when authorities arrived at the scene.
The driver was able to get out of the vehicle unharmed.
Indiana State Police shut down the freeway to eastbound traffic for approximately 45 minutes while the fire was being extinguished.
Backup on I-70 extended well past the exit onto Highway 41.
