CF Montreal removed the interim tag and named Marco Donadel as head coach on Tuesday.
Donadel, 42, took over as interim coach on March 24 after Montreal fired Laurent Courtois following a 0-4-1 start to the season.
“We are happy to confirm Marco Donadel’s position as head coach of the club,” said Luca Saputo, CF Montreal managing director, recruitment and sporting methodology.
“We are of firm belief that Marco possesses the right abilities to lead the club going forward and to help us achieve our ambitions.”
Donadel, from Italy, played four seasons with Montreal from 2015-18 and returned to the club as an assistant coach on Dec. 29, 2024.
“I am happy to continue my tenure as head coach of CF Montreal,” Donadel said. “I have a long history and great memories with this city. First, as a player and now as a member of the coaching staff. I would like to thank the club for trusting me to continue to lead the squad.”
CF Montreal posted a 6-18-10 record (28 points) to finish in 13th place in the Eastern Conference this season. The club missed the playoffs for the fourth time in the past five years.
