VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Spooky season is here, and the Indiana State Museum and Historical Sites are gearing up for a scary good time at nearly all their locations throughout the Hoosier state.
The Indiana State Museum will offer fun, family-friendly programs throughout October. Including three historical sites in southwest Indiana — Angel Mounds, New Harmony and the Vincennes State Historical Site.
Vincennes State Historical Site:

During October, the Vincennes State Historical Site will host two spooky events that takes visitors through the city’s most haunted locations.
Downtown Ghost Story Walk:
During the ghost story walk, costumed storytellers will guide participants through several haunted locations throughout the city. The costumed storytellers will also share local ghost stories and other chilling tales.
The event will be held on October 17 and 24 at the Old State Bank, located at 114 North Second Street, Vincennes.
Tours will begin at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on those dates.
Admission into the walk will cost $15
Children’s Halloween Tour:
If the Downtown Ghost Story Walk is a little too eerie for you little ones, the Children’s Halloween Tour is designed specifically for younger visitors.
The tour will highlight historical sites such as the Jefferson Academy, the Territorial Capitol and the Elihu Print Shop. Participants in the tour will also get to enjoy trick-or-treating, spooky stories and Halloween-themed games.
Guest are also encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes for the chance to win a costume contest.
The tour will be held October 18 and admission into the event is only $5.
New Harmony State Historical Site:

“More Halloween thrills await at New Harmony State Historic Sites where visitors can discover what inspired several popular seasonal pastimes during two spooktacular programs,” said the Indiana State Museum and Historical Sites.
History of Halloween Traditions:
Learn more about why we carve pumpkins, the colors associated with Halloween and other traditions during the History of Halloween event at New Harmony State Historical Site.
The event will be held from 11 p.m. to Noon (CDT) on October 25 at the Community House No. 2. Admission is only $7.
Shadows and Spirits: The Haunting Origins of Halloween:
This candle-lit tour of the Fauntleroy House will explore the historic house and the origins of modern monsters, Victorian mourning practices, spirit communications and other Halloween traditions.
The tour is designed for attendees aged 13 and up, and admission is only $7.
Angel Mounds State Historical Site:



The Angel Mounds State Historical Site in Evansville will be holding its 11th annual Halloween Hallaballo on October 18 and 25.
With only a $15 admission, guests will get to trick-or-treat, ride haunted hayrides, build crafts and play games.
The event will be held from 6-9 p.m. CDT.
