Update: Casey, Ill (WTWO/WAWV) — According to Clark County officials, the evacuation order in Casey has been lifted, and business will remain closed until a technician inspects the area.
According to Casey Fire Chief Jason Garver, a call came in at 8:20 a.m. CDT on the report of a hissing sound coming from a trailer that had been parked overnight at Mach 1, located at 939 North State Highway 49.
Upon arrival, crews located the leak and ordered an emergency evacuation of the area. The Charleston Fire Dept. Hazmat team was called in as a precaution.
According to Clark County E-911, “The hydrogen leak at Mach 1 seems to have stopped. As a precaution, businesses nearby will remain closed until the hydrogen source is removed.”

According to the Clark County 911 Facebook page, “EMERGENCY EVACUATION ALERT. There is a hydrogen leak at Mach 1, located at 939 North State Highway 49 in Casey, Illinois. LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY. Hydrogen is highly flammable and can lead to explosions or fires. For your safety, do not delay. Use familiar routes to evacuate and avoid the area until further notice. Stay safe.”
