CLAY COUNTY, IN (WTWO/WAWV) A two-vehicle accident in Clay County on Sunday evening sent two victims by helicopter to area hospitals.
According to Clay County Sheriff Brison Swearingen, on Sunday at 5:21 p.m., Clay County Sheriff Deputies, along with Indiana State Police, responded to a two-vehicle head on collision. The accident occurred on State Road 46 east of Bowling Green.
Sheriff Swearingen reported, “The male driver of a white Ford pickup traveling east collided into a guardrail before crossing the centerline into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the driver of a black Toyota pickup.”
The male driver of the white Ford was ejected from the vehicle and airlifted from the scene. The male driver of the black Toyota pickup was also airlifted for injuries sustained during the collision.
“The accident is still under investigation. Mechanical malfunction with one of the vehicles involved may be a contributing factor,” noted Swearingen.
