TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Blighted structures in Terre Haute are being rehabilitated into new homes.
City leaders and community members gathered Wednesday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the rehabilitation of a unit in the Farrington Grove neighborhood.
The unit is located at 314 S 6th Street and is one of 13 units that will be rehabilitated across the city and in the county.
The goal of this project by Red Brick Real Estate was to blend the structure’s original features, such as its spiral staircase, with modern design and utilities.
Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun was happy with what developer Ben Lenderman, Owner and Operator of Red Brick Real Estate, was able to do with the space.
“This is a great example of blending modern architecture, modern HVAC/AC utility systems, with a building that you kept the bones, you kept the guts. So, it’s really good to see that type of progress in our city, blending some of the old with the new. Really, really big project and we’re happy that Ben invested in our community,” said Mayor Sakbun.
The project is part of Thrive West Central’s Homes for the Future program.
