Sporting Kansas City announced the acquisition of Norwegian midfielder Lasse Berg Johnsen on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old arrives from Swedish side Malmo FF and is under contract through 2027-28 with a 2028-29 option.
“We are delighted to add Lasse to the team,” president of soccer operations and general manager David Lee said. “Lasse is a highly experienced and accomplished player in both the domestic and international game, and he arrives in Kansas City as he enters the prime of his career.
“He has excellent quality in possession and fits the profile of midfielder that we wanted to add to the squad. Lasse has shown throughout his career that he is a winner, while his personality and character will elevate our locker room.”
Berg Johnsen has tallied 18 goals and 21 assists in 258 professional appearances across Scandinavia since 2019.
Sporting KC will open the 2026 MLS regular season on Saturday night against the host San Jose Earthquakes.
