BERLIN (Reuters) -Germany provided a record 11.8 billion euros ($13.81 billion) for international climate financing in 2024, Germany’s ministries for environment and international development said on Monday in a joint statement.
Of this amount, 6.1 billion euros came from budget funds, meaning Germany has achieved the internationally agreed target of providing at least 6 billion euros from budgetary resources for international climate finance.
Industrialized countries have committed in the 2015 Paris Agreement to support developing and emerging countries in climate protection and adaptation to climate change.
The funds will be used to expand renewable energies, to implement measures to adapt agriculture to droughts and floods, and to protect forests.
