TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute Police Department has three teenagers in custody in relation to a stabbing last month in Terre Haute.
According to a social media post from the department, officers responded to the incident on August 16 at a Denny’s location near South 3rd Street and Poplar Street in Terre Haute.
Once officers arrived at the restaurant, they determined the victim had suffered a stab wound during an altercation. The victim was then transported to a local hospital.
“Due to the swift response and treatment, both at the scene and at the hospital, the victim survived a life-threatening stab wound to the neck,” said the Terre Haute Police Department.
The investigation was then handed over to Violent Crime Detectives. After reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses and the victim, detectives determined the victim was stabbed near the intersection of North 8th Street and Cherry Street. Police said after being stabbed, the victim was able to travel to the Denny’s location to seek help.
As a result of the investigation, three teenagers— Anthony J. Bynes, 18, of Terre Haute, Charles Sullivan, 19, of Terre Haute, and a 17-year-old juvenile from Brazil, Indiana— were arrested and charged with robbery resulting in serious bodily injury or death, a level two felony.
“The Terre Haute Police Department will continue working closely with the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office as this case proceeds through the criminal justice system,” said the Terre Haute Police Department.
