WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTWO/WAWV) — Several Indiana Lawmakers recently visited Washington, D.C., to collaborate and discuss with White House officials the top issues affecting Hoosiers.
State Reps. Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville) and Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute), along with several members of the Indiana General Assembly, attended the White House State Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., to meet with senior White House officials and Cabinet secretaries, including Vice President JD Vance.
State Rep. Borders said this conference was an opportunity for Indiana State Legislators “to explore how to strengthen Indiana’s partnership with President Trump’s Administration.”
“It’s always valuable when leaders from the state and federal levels come together to discuss the needs of the people we serve,” Borders said. “The White House State Leadership Conference gave us the chance to exchange ideas and explore ways to make life better for Hoosiers.”
According to a press release, the meeting highlighted several policy areas in which Indiana is leading the nation, “including efforts to strengthen education, improve public safety, and reduce bureaucracy.”
State Rep. Heaton said this opportunity to have an open dialogue between the federal and state governments will help lawmakers improve the communities they serve.
“I appreciated the opportunity to meet with White House officials to discuss the issues that matter most to Hoosiers,” Heaton said. “Indiana is leading the way in several areas and I’m excited to continue partnering with the administration to strengthen our communities and state.”
