SULLIVAN CO., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — If you have ever had an interest in learning more about nature, there is now a class this fall that you can take.
Purdue University Sullivan Co. Extension partners with Sullivan Co. Soil and Water Conservation District for an Indiana Master Naturalist course starting on September 29th.
You will complete 10 classes, and in each class, you will have hands-on learning experiences about each topic. The classes take place from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Sullivan County 4-H building. And once you have completed the course, you can apply to be in the Master Naturalist Alumni Club.
“We’re really hoping to go and do some visits and try to make it more of getting up and active, rather than just sitting and listening,” said Bailey Draper, Ag & natural resource educator for Purdue.
The is an opportunity that serves the community on what they want to learn in nature.
“A master naturalist is somebody that is educated on nature, basically,” said Kennedy Gofourth, Sullivan Co. SWDC Coordinator. “Think of native and invasive species, maybe fishing, forestry, wildlife identification, you know, anything in that nature, birding.”
