TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute Fire Department responded to a blaze early Tuesday morning that injured a firefighter.
According to Terre Haute Fire Department Captain Nick Arnold, the department responded to the fire in the 1500 block of 8th Ave in the early morning of August 26.
When fire crews arrived, they saw smoke and flames showing from a garage. Captain Arnold said Engine 3 arrived less than three minutes after being dispatched.
While battling the blaze, one firefighter was injured and was taken to Union Hospital for minor injuries. They have since been treated and released.
Captain Arnold said the fire was contained to the original structure, but the garage is considered a total loss. The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing, and the Red Cross has been called to assist two adults displaced by the fire.
