VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Brad Newman announced he’s running for Vigo County sheriff.
Newman is a sergeant at the Terre Haute Police Department and a former Vigo County clerk.
He said his first step would be to look at the budget and how to improve, and look at some things with the jai,l such as how much maintenance funding is being put in.
Newman also said he thinks the department is doing a fine job, but he thinks there are things that need to be improved. He said he has a very open vision.
“There’s a conglomerate of things here that we have to look at. Whether it be the security for the courts. You know, the jail. The road commitment. I mean there’s so many things here, and quite honestly, 20 years of law enforcement, this is kind of my own backyard. This is exactly what I was born to do,” said Brad Newman.
Steve Ellis, who owns Top Guns in Terre Haute, is also running for sheriff, and current Vigo County sheriff Derek Fell also announced his candidacy.
