EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) —An emotional reunion took place on Monday as nearly a dozen soldiers with the Indiana National Guard returned home to the state after serving overseas.
The soldiers returning home are with the National Guard’s 38th Infantry Division. They landed Monday in Evansville, where they were greeted by family and friends.
Kendra Jones from Sullivan was at the airport to welcome home her husband. It was also a special moment for their three-year-old daughter Stella.
“Dada! My Dada, Dada,” exclaimed Stella as she ran into his arms for the first time since he returned home.
“She has definitely changed a lot since he has been gone,” said Kendra. “So, it’s going to be a big change for him to come back to. She talks more and everything.”
The soldiers returning home have been stationed in the Middle East for the last year.
