TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — It has been a busy few days over at Indiana State, as it is move in weekend.
Many students will begin their college journey this upcoming week. Although classes don’t officially start until Tuesday, many events happened all weekend long to get students excited for the new school year.
With fun-filled activities designed to ease the transition from high school to college, students are gearing up for the start of the semester here at ISU. Over the weekend, students gathered in the Hulman Center, to begin their journey in the same place they will receive their degree.
The freshman were welcomed by fellow students, staff, and ISU cheerleaders.
“This weekend’s really busy for us. We wanna make sure we are really welcoming our Sycamores, so it’s been busy, but a lot of fun and we are really excited. we have our first football game coming up next Thursday, so be there to cheer on the Sycamores and we are really excited to kick off this year,” said ISU cheerleader Lillyan Dickerson.
Although this transition of life can bring many emotions for incoming students. Now students are here are settling in and the campus is buzzing with life.
“A lot of energy. A lot of excitement. A few tears from some moms and dads with that drop off, but what I will say the energy on campus and everyone having that excitement to start off the new year is just phenomenal,” said President of ISU Mike Godard.
Up next for these students, is Donaghy Day, a tradition of ISU where they can volunteer throughout the community.
We want to wish these Sycamores the best of luck as classes start Tuesday.
