TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — 12 Points First Friday event is raising awareness and support for a good cause, called Visibility Day.
The 12 points First Friday’s event is a way to showcase the area and all it has to offer. from homemade arts and crafts, food, and even live music. In addition, this month, they featured a special event called Visibility Day.
This brought awareness to people who have a disability of any kind and was an opportunity to find resources people may not have known were available. The idea was brought on by Evie Mitchell, a senior at North Vigo High School, who had a bright vision for the event.
We have multiple places like the Hamilton center, different special ed teachers, that are here to talk about what they do and how it benefits the community,” Evie said. “They have resources to help with whatever they can. If someone has questions, or if someone has a disabled child, and they don’t know where they could go to school, for example, there are people here who can help them figure that out.”
This event was free to the public, and people were able to get free assistance on any questions or concerns they might have had.
“I just wanted somewhere where others and I could feel accepted, and free and good,” Evie said. “I thought this would be like a good idea to run with and something new for the community of Terre Haute.”
The first Friday events are a way to bring the community together and showcase different vendors all around the Wabash Valley. To learn more about their events or to sign up to be a vendor, click here.
