Lexie Hull will replace Indiana Fever teammate Caitlin Clark in the WNBA 3-point shooting contest Friday night in Indianapolis, the league announced.
Clark said Thursday that she would not participate in the WNBA skills competition and All-Star Game due to a right groin injury.
Clark, 23, aggravated the injury in the final minute of Indiana’s 85-77 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday in Boston. She has missed 10 regular season games this season, 11 if the Commissioner’s Cup final is included. Previously, she had never missed a game in her college of pro career.
Hull is shooting a robust 46.8 percent (29-of-62) from 3-point range this season, good enough for fourth-best in the league. She shot 47.1 percent last season.
Hull will compete against Sonia Citron (Washington Mystics), Allisha Gray (Atlanta Dream), Sabrina Ionescu (New York Liberty) and Kelsey Plum (Los Angeles Sparks). Gray is the defending champion in the event, while Ionescu set the all-time single-round record for WNBA and NBA 3-point contests with 37 points in the final round of the 2023 competition.
