TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Since the recent tornado that hit Greene County, residents are doing all they can to begin recovery efforts.
One thing that was needed was a place to dispose of tires. The Vigo County Health Department has announced that they will be accepting tires from Greene County as they work to restore the community.
Residents of Greene County can drop off at least 10 tires at the Vigo County Health Department’s Vector Control Division over the next two weeks for no cost. Tires will begin being accepted on May 27, following the holiday weekend. The drop-off location is at 1241 7th Avenue.
Proof of residency in Greene County will be required. tires can only be dropped off after making an appointment. To do so, call 812-234-9181. No more than 10 tires can be dropped off without pre-authorization, and semi tires, tractor tires, or larger tires must also have pre-authorization. No businesses, tire retailers, salvage yards, auto service centers, or trucking companies are allowed.
