BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Tuesday afternoon the Clay County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual meeting that allows Mayor Wyndham to update the community on the state of the city.
He said that in 2025 that they are going to focus mainly on utility projects that will be highlighted by a 13-million-dollar water main replacement project.
“It is 70 years old and is our main artery where we get our water,” said Wyndham. “There is no plan b if that thing ruptures. When we are down there fixing it, it shows its ages by all of the leaks. It is just not a can that I want to kick down the road.”
The city is also working on a housing project and the addition of a solar field. Wyndham said none of these improvements to the city would have happened without the countless hours of people working behind the scenes.
“These people are doing this stuff voluntarily without compensation,” said Wyndham. “I don’t think there is a community that is more giving than this one that we live in as they are willing to invest in the place that they live and that is a refreshing thing to see.”
Wyndham said they don’t have a set date for the start of construction on the water main project, but he says they plan to start this year on all of the utility projects mentioned.
