(Reuters) – AstraZeneca said on Wednesday Iskra Reic will become its new international executive vice president succeeding Leon Wang, who was detained by Chinese authorities in October.
The company said in late October its China operations were under the leadership of Michael Lai, the current general manager of AstraZeneca China.
Wang, who was also China president of AstraZeneca, is on extended leave while being under investigation in China, AstraZeneca said.
The drugmaker has largely been in the dark about investigations into Wang. CEO Pascal Soriot had said in an earnings call in November that the company has very little information about the case.
