TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — With the total solar eclipse just 3 days away, the Clean Streets Initiative thought there was no better time to do a downtown clean-up.
Organizers say it’s crucial to make this area of town as clean as possible because there will be many visitors in town. The group also did a clean-up a few days ago, on the east side of town in preparation for the casino’s grand opening.
The goal is to keep Vigo County as clean as possible and constantly improve the quality of life.
Vigo County Commissioner Mark Clinkenbeard said that he hopes this initiative helps bring people into the county.
“We love the community, and we have some Chamber of Commerce folks here today and some other members of the community to show that we are proud of the community and we what to show it off to others so they will hopefully come back and visit in the future or maybe even want to live here,” said Clinkenbeard.
