ROBINSON, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — After years of planning and construction, the Crawford County Recreaction Center has opened its doors to the public.
This 36,000-square-foot fitness facility is located on the campus of Lincoln Trail College. It is going to be the home of classes and activities for people of all ages as it includes many exercise rooms, a multisport gym, exercise equipment, and even a swimming pool.
Rendi Bierman is their program director, and she says this is a perfect addition to Crawford County.
“It gets them involved in not only the community, but we are also close to several towns that are in our community. It is going to be a great addition for everyone to get out there and find something they enjoy,” Bierman said.
There will be classes of all varieties offered here. These include Zumba, water aerobics, spin classes, and yoga for both adults and children.
Dan McDonald is the executive director, and he said these classes are a great way to bond with members of this community.
“It is nice to see them out enjoying something. Everyone that has been here has been pretty happy because they are here to enjoy the place, but it is great to see old friends and make new friends here,” said McDonald.
No matter how people enjoy the rec center, allowing people to be active and healthy will always be their main goal.
“I think it is going to be a community, family-friendly atmosphere for everyone to be active and healthy in our community,” added Bierman.
Their current hours are 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. However, starting January 2 their hours will be 5 am to 9 pm Monday through Friday, 7 am to 6 pm on Saturday, and noon to 6 pm on Sunday.
