TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A local animal shelter is taking part in a special initiative that will provide animals hope this holiday season.
The Greene County Humane Society is participating in the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Holiday Hope event. Now through December 17, pet adoption fees at the shelter are reduced.
Dogs can be adopted for $50 and cat adoption fees are waived. The shelter has around 40 cats and 30 dogs. That includes the shelter’s longest resident, Rosa Linda, a Basset hound – lab mix who has been there for almost a year.
“We have been pretty much at capacity most of the year and we’ve got some animals that have been here coming up on a whole year now and we really just want to get into the homes and warm couches,” Kegan Inman, President of the Board of Directors said.
Again, the Empty the Shelters – Holiday Hope event runs through December 17.
