CLINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Little Italy Festival in Clinton starts this Friday, and to accommodate the event, work has been paused for an ongoing street project.
Crews have been resurfacing 9th Street in Clinton while also putting in new curbs, sidewalks, and ADA-compliant ramps. While working on the project, crews have addressed some issues with drainage and the underground water main as well.
While the work has been paused for the festival, drivers can look forward to the finished product in the months to come.
“There are a lot of drainage issues the payment itself was in poor condition along with sidewalks so it’s now being put up to ADA standards with new ramps, sidewalks and when complete the whole section of the roadway will be essentially new and will last the city for many years to come,” Eric Smith, VP and Director of Water Resources Engineering said.
“It’s all open for the festival. It’s a little bumpy on the north side of the bridge but they had to do some repairs to the road but eventually it will look just like this, the finished product,” Jack Gilfoy, Mayor of Clinton said.
After the festival, crews will resume work from the north side of the bridge to Anderson Street. Gilfoy expects the project to be finished in November.
