BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The best way to build a safer community is to know your neighbors and your surroundings. Brazil and Vincennes held their National Night Out events Tuesday evening.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign, that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. The goal is to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
Children were able to build relationships with community members and also get free school supplies.
Brazil Chief of Police Clint McQueen said it’s a great way to meet the community.
“We want to start young with the kids and show them that you know we’re here for them. and if they have some questions. We get to interact with them on a day like today where we don’t usually because we’re doing police work, fire work, medical service work, the organizations and what they do. Today they get to sit down and talk with us,” McQueen said.
