TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Health and education officials are hoping a new partnership will fill a need for more nurses in Indiana.
Good Samaritan is investing $300,000 in Ivy Tech Terre Haute and Evansville.
The money will be used in several ways, including upgrade’s Ivy Tech’s School of Health Sciences buildings on its Terre Haute and Evansville campuses.
The funds will also go toward making it easier for people to earn healthcare certificates before graduating high school and expanding the capacity for the school of nursing enrollment.
Good Samaritan also plans to employ more Ivy Tech graduates at its facilities.
“Knox county particularly that we have a need we have a need in our health care industry, in many different arenas, in many different careers, and so Ivy Tech, they’re located and in such a way that we can have a greater impact on the reach that we can have to others to draw them to knox county through this partnership and so we’re really excited about all of those possibilities,” said Rachel Spalding, Chief Nursing Officer at Good Samaritan.
Ivy Tech noted that it awards more than 13,000 associate degrees to nursing students every year.
