ROCKVILLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Thirty-one high school equivalency diplomas and a dozen or more certifications we’re awarded this evening in Parke-Vermillion.
Parke-vermillion Adult Education hosted its annual graduation exercise at Parke Heritage High School in Rockville. The students took classes to gain the skills needed to pass the high school equivalency test or to get a certain career certification. The diploma or certification will impact their lives by helping them get certain jobs, join the military, or get accepted into a college.
Program Director Donna Hardesty said these classes mean a lot to the students and their families.
“Each individual student could give you their own story why it matters to them. Some of them it’s been a promise that they’ve made to a family member, they’re fulfilling that. For some of them it’s a promise they made to themselves and for others it’s a stepping stone to what they hope the future to hold for them,” Hardesty said.
