TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Over 700 Vigo County high school students prepared for the next step of their lives on Sunday as all three high schools in VCSC hosted their graduation ceremonies.
West Vigo celebrated their graduation at 1:00 on their campus, with 105 graduates. Terre Haute South and Terre Haute North held their ceremonies at Hulman Center. The principal at South, Tammy Rowshandel, said Sunday was a day she looks forward to each year.
“This is the culminating day, this is what they’ve worked for their whole educational career,” she said. “It’s an exciting day, it’s a proud principal moment to see them all getting ready to walk across the stage and graduate today, and move onto bigger and better things. They’re going to make this world a better place for everybody.”
She said the main theme of the day for her is looking back at the memories with her class, which was about 350 students for THS, over their time at the school.
“Today is just a reflective day. You think about all the fun times you had with them over the last four years, fun things they’ve done, opportunities they’ve had in school and outside of school. Just excitement for what’s next for them,” she said.
The valedictorians for each school were as follows:
- Terre Haute North: Arianna Foster, Emma Foster, Jetta Harmon, Lily Holder and Cruz Martinez.
- Terre Haute South: Nicholas Caldwell, Marin Manning and Angus Stergar
- West Terre Haute: Katelynn Fennell
