TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Local swimming pools are gearing up for the summer season.
At Deming Park in Terre Haute, the swimming pool is scheduled to open Saturday, May 27th for Memorial Day weekend (most public pools open around the holiday weekend each year).
The pool at Deming Park will be open Monday – Thursday from noon until 5 p.m. Friday – Sunday, the pool will be open from noon until 6 p.m.
The city pool in Sullivan was severely damaged by the March 31st tornado. Crews have been working hard to get the pool open in time for the start of the swimming season, but it’s still unclear if they will get the pool open by next weekend.
“If we’re not going to have a full summer, it’s going to be close to a full summer,” J.D. Wilson, the director of public works in Sullivan, told WTWO last week.

In Knox County, Rainbow Beach in Vincennes will open on Saturday, May 27th for the season. It will be open each day from noon – 6 p.m.
