TERRE HAUTE, Ind. WTWO/WAWV) — Two people have been flown to an Indianapolis hospital after suffering significant injuries in a two-car crash at 25th Street and Ohio Boulevard.
According to a post from the Terre Haute Police Department, a patrolling officer in the area witnessed a minivan speeding and running through multiple stop signs.
The officer pursued the vehicle but the driver continued to speed through the area headed westbound and driving through the red light on 25th Street. As the minivan drove through the red light, it struck a pick-up truck that was northbound, resulting in serious injury for both drivers.
The post also noted that the patrolling officer had heard someone screaming in the area before witnessing and pursuing the minivan, stating, “Officers learned the original yelling had been the result of the female becoming upset with the male driver for driving recklessly with her child in the car.”
Indiana State Police Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. WTWO reporters have confirmed that Indiana State Police and the Terre Haute Police Department were on the scene.
Update: Police identified the two injured men in this incident as Richard Hoke, 35, of Terre Haute and Harold Travioli, 60, of Clinton. The status of their injuries is unknown at this time.
