CLINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — After announcing the doors will be closing for good in February, Ernie Pyle Elementary School will be hosting a Last Look event for the community.
On May 13 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., community members are welcome to take tours of the building while also enjoying photo booths, crafts, giveaways, food trucks, and more.
“Ernie Pyle has been a staple in the community for 61 years, and we just felt it was important so that the community, the former students, teachers, administration, they could have a little bit of closure. Our community is a very tight community,” said Kim Kessler, Ernie Pyle’s principal.
Kessler continued to describe the significance behind the Last Look event and how it will benefit the community.
“We’re trying to make some more good memories because we want everybody to think of Ernie Pyle and have good thoughts. Yes, it’s a sad time that we are closing the doors, but so many good things have happened here. I just want people to come back and walk through the hallways and reminisce all the great things that have happened and just have a little fun,” Kessler said.
Many members of the school and the community have come together to make the event possible and look forward to celebrating the school that had been serving the community since 1962.
