TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Update: Three people were injured as the result of a three-vehicle wreck in Terre Haute Monday evening.
According to the Terre Haute Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 6:21 p.m. at the intersection of College Avenue and S 3rd Street (US 41). Investigating officers said failure to yield by a car attempting to turn southbound on 3rd Street was the cause of the crash.
Police said a Toyota Corolla, driven by a 20-year-old Richfield, Ohio man was attempting to turn left onto S 3rd Street from College Avenue when it was t-boned by a Chevrolet Cruze driven by a 31-year-old Terre Haute woman. A third vehicle, a Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 34-year-old Montezuma woman, had been behind the Cruze and was unable to avoid the crash and struck the rear of the Cruze, and sideswiped the Corolla.
All three drivers told police they were uninjured and refused medical treatment, however the front passenger in each of the vehicles was transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries. Those transported individuals included a 12-year-old Terre Haute girl, a 19-year-old New York man, and a male from Montezuma.
Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
