CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) – Illinois State Police has identified the person who died in a crash Friday afternoon in Clark County.
It happened on US Route 40 westbound at Baystown Road.
Illinois State Police say a motorcycle headed westbound slowed to attempt a right turn onto Baystown Road when a vehicle behind it struck the rear end of the motorcycle.
The motorcycle’s passenger, 44-year-old Tosha Y. Davis of Marshall, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.
The motorcycle’s driver, 55-year-old Joseph Roseberry of Terre Haute, was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, 25-year-old Austin Lowry of Martinsville, Illinois, refused medical treatment and was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Drivers are asked to avoid parts of US Highway 40 in Clark County due to a traffic accident.
According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Highway 40 at the west cutoff at Marshall to Spiketown Road is closed.
The accident is being investigated by the Illinois State Police.
Officials say there will be no traffic in either direction on that section of road for the next several hours.
Drivers are being asked to use Interstate 70 from Marshall to Martinsville as an alternative route.
