SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Dateline’s newest series will focus on two Wabash Valley murders. The show is called “Dateline: The Last Day.”
The episode premiering Tuesday on the streaming service “Peacock” focuses on the murders of Vincennes University students Brook Baker and Erika Norman and is now available.
Baker was raped and stabbed 11 times in her off-campus home in Vincennes in September of 1997. For two years police looked for her killer and then in July of 1999, Erika Norman disappeared from her Vincennes apartment. Norman’s body was later found in an Illinois cornfield.
Police linked the two cases to the same man, Brian Jones.
According to the Indiana Department of Corrections, Jones is serving a life sentence at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle.
Among those interviewed for this story is WTWO’s Dana Winklepleck. She helped report on the murders when they happened.
Again, the episode is now available on the “Peacock” streaming service.
