TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A new center opened in Terre Haute today that will help support children and families in crisis, as well as foster families and service providers.
A ribbon-cutting celebrated the opening of The Hope House on north 13th Street. State and Local officials were in attendance. The Hope House can help children and families during Department of Children’s Services cases as a space for family visits.
“Having an active DCS case often times there’s not really comfortable places for visits to happen for kids,” said Hope House Director Dawn Arnold. “So we chose to open this facility specifically for that.”
It will also help ensure a child’s needs are being met when entering the DCS system.
“DCS is able to bring the kids here. There’s bath facilities, we have pajamas for every size of kiddo that you can imagine. Books, and then we’ll order Pizza and we have volunteers who are here all hours of the night to be able to open the home up.”
The Hope House also held tours for visitors following the ribbon cutting.
