TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The 4th of July Celebration will take place in Fairbanks Park Sunday, July 4. A rain date has been set for Monday, July 5.
The celebration will begin with food vendors at 6 p.m. The Terre Haute Community Bank will perform at 8 p.m. at the amphitheater. Fireworks will start at dusk.
“It’s just a great place to come and see the fireworks. The fireworks are shot from across the river. It’s just a great event to come out and enjoy and bring the kids out and have a good time,” said Superintendent of Parks and Recreation Eddie Bird.
The event will feature live music performed by the Terre Haute Community Band.
With a large crowd expected, safety is a high priority for Bird.
“For the safety of the large crowd anticipated to attend and the nature of this celebration, the Terre Haute Parks Department is reminding all visitors that personal fireworks and alcohol is prohibited in all City Parks,” said Bird. “We also ask visitors to leave all pets at home.”
The Terre Haute Police Department will be onsite to enforce all park rules and regulations.
