VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The city of Vincennes has announced it will begin taking applications from small businesses that wish to receive the third wave of money from the CARES Act.
“We applied for another round of the small business money,” Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum said. “We applied for $250,000.”
Grant levels will vary based on the number of employees a business has and will range from $2,000-$10,000. Yochum said he believes the process of receiving this money is simple and that all small businesses should apply for the additional funds.
“The money’s here to apply for,” Yochum said. “We encourage all of our small businesses to apply. We encourage the original small businesses that received money to apply again.”
The money comes at a time where businesses are still feeling the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Some businesses owners such as Wes Schooler, owner of WD’s in Vincennes, even contemplated quitting the industry.
“I think a lot of people just got to the point where it was like is it even worth reopening to do this or should we go with what we got and run,” Schooler said.
With the help of a series of relief checks, WD’s and other businesses were able to keep their heads above water and continue the course.
“Without the government money, we probably wouldn’t have reopened the business,” Schooler said.
The deadline to apply for the small business relief money is July 16.
